After 20 years, ten studio albums, five greatest hits compilations, thirty-four chart singles, 15 million record sales worldwide and performing in front of millions of fans, when time was called on The Beautiful South in 2008, not everyone was ready to leave the party.
Dave Hemingway and Ali Wheeler, lead singers with the band - along with departed songwriter Paul Heaton – were having too much fun to get out the pipe and slippers, and so The South was formed. Joining the duo were fellow mainstays from the original band: keyboard wizard Damon Butcher and the potent horn section of Gaz Birtles and Tony Robinson that brought so much to the live shows.
Armed with a sensational back catalogue of hits such as 'Song For Whoever', 'Perfect Ten', 'Rotterdam', 'Don't Marry Her', 'You Keep It All In', 'Old Red Eyes Is Back' and many others, there is a long way to go on this particular road.
This band has history and pedigree. Dave Hemingway's musical career stretches back into the Eighties. He became a founder member of The Beautiful South after the demise of The Housemartins, who had enjoyed a sustained purple patch and many hits before calling it a day in 1988. Whilst bassist Norman Cook went on to become superstar DJ Fat Boy Slim, Paul Heaton and Dave Hemingway proceeded to form the new band in December 1988. Right from the off, The Beautiful South seemed to defy the normal logic associated with pop bands, not least for the fact that they stayed together for 20 years.
Over the life of the band, they produced many self-penned hits and had several number one albums – they scored their only number one single with the Dave Hemingway / Briana Corrigan duet 'A Little Time'. A globally successful band, members of The South have performed these songs in front of hordes of fans from Hull to Houston. They love the material and know what will keep the fans happy.
Now with The South marking the next step in these musicians' careers, the band are starting to add in exciting new songs to their repertoire. Competition for space in a set-list packed with so many hits is fierce, but the quality of some of the new material is such that the songs have slotted right in – and the fans' reaction has been amazing.
The South certainly have history. But the future looks bright...

Hailing from LA via Brooklyn, super-cool indie-quintet Grouplove were one of the stars of last Summer's festival season with mind blowing shows at the likes of Leeds/Reading, Glastonbury and Latitude.
Having toured with the likes of Florence & The Machine and Los Campesisons, they're returning to the UK for a string of headline dates on the back of having their amazing single "Tongue Tied" used on the Apple iPod Touch TV commercial… you know the one.
With comparisons to the likes of Pixies, Breeders, Pavement, Dinosaur Jr, Modest Mouse and Moldy Peaches under their belts, their tuneful, noisy, indie-art-pop will force you to put on your dancing shoes - whether you want to or not!
"Sugary and sunny and stuffed with melodies, this California quintet are hard to hate, and with omnipresent single 'Colours', hard to avoid." - NME

Having already released two successful albums, New Vintage and Traditional, the 24-year-old Yorkshire born singer-songwriter is back, with his new self-titled record, Peter Grant.
He has been endorsed by Gary Barlow who called him 'one to watch', likened to Adele thanks to his soulful voice, and is already a firm favourite with BBC Radio 2 listeners. And he's survived an appearance on TV's Loose Women……
The album, set for release in February, is already creating a stir. Two tracks have been selected to feature in Noel Clarke's forthcoming film The Knot, due to hit cinemas on Valentine's Day. The first single, Too Close, went straight on the Radio 2 playlist.

'Artfully crafted' The Sunday Times.'A class act' Daily Mirror 'anthemic…lyrical….soulful' BBC Music. Hello Cruel World, Gretchen Peters' eighth album and her first solo studio effort in four years, has just been released to huge critical acclaim.
Recorded at Patty Griffin's East Nashville studio and coproduced with Doug Lancio (Patty Griffin, The Greencards, John Hiatt), the album features a duet with Rodney Crowell ("Dark Angel"), and guest appearances by Kim Richey, Viktor Krauss and Will Kimbrough.
Peters' songwriting has brought her to the Grammys twice and won her a CMA Song Of The Year award for the groundbreaking "Independence Day" (Martina McBride).
This May she was nominated for induction in 2011 into the Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame (previous Hall of Fame inductees include Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Rodney Crowell, Hank Williams, Dolly Parton and Jimmy Webb).
But that's only half the story. As a recording artist she has won near-universal acclaim from media such as Time Magazine ("her choir-girl voice has a seductive hint of late nights and cigarettes"), AllMusic.com ("her finest moment as a recording artist and a song-lyric poet" - Burnt Toast & Offerings, 2007) and Mojo (The Secret Of Life, Best Albums of 1996). One To The Heart, One To The Head (2009), her collaboration with singer-songwriter Tom Russell appeared on numerous year-end Best Of lists, including PopMatters ("one of the best folk records in recent memory") and No Depression.
