Geordie space cadets yourcodenameis:milo are self-confessed
geeks. They love space rockets, technology and science, and
this shines through into their music - a thunderous post-hardcore
rock assault described by Kerrang as 'inventively brilliant'.
Fresh from touring with Enter Shikari, the band are now

'signed to the mighty V2 label and have effortlessly booted
their brilliant new album They Came From The Sun into orbit,
as well as working on their intriguing collaborations side
project Print Is Dead Vol 1 alongside the likes of Maximo
Park and Bloc Party.
'The Radiohead it's not too wrist-slashingly moribund to
like
if it ain't broke, break it anyway!' - Kerrang!

Steriogram are a band you know
maybe without
knowing it. They're the bug-eyed New Zealanders responsible
for the uptempo slice of pop genius that is Walkie Talkie
Man - the one that crashed into the Top 20 after blasting
from iPod adverts from here to Timbuktu. And had that mad,
knitted video!

How can we
describe them? How about the bastard offspring of a nasty,
drunken threesome between The Beastie Boys, Blink 182 and
early Green Day? Their lead singer Tyson Kennedy's got a better
name than you, and their new album This is Not The Target
Market shows them heading in a darker, harder direction.

Priestess play genuine, no-holds-barred, old skool
rawk 'n' roll, with Sabbath riffs, Thin Lizzy licks and full-on
Axl Rose vocals. Sharing stages with seminal grunge rockers
Dinosaur Jnr and fellow heavy-as-hell metallers Mastadon,
the band have honed their live show into something truly magnificent.
All the way from Montreal, this impressively hairy quartet

like a bearded Cruise missile. They've already been getting
some great press, and with the weight of the mighty RCA label
behind them, spanking new album Hello Master looks set to
take them to the next level of rock notoriety.

They might be a stripped-back duo, but IWACS crank
out an effortless stream of sharp-edged anthems with enough
raw power to shame the average metal collective. 'Epic synth-pop'
said the NME, after the boys completed a string of dates with
midlands miserabilists Editors. And that's just the tip of
the press iceberg

The Ghost of a Thousand are five young wide-eyed
punkers from Brighton, who have taken the Refused template
for heavy melodic hardcore and cranked things up a notch.
Spanking new debut album This is Where the Fight Begins is
packed to the gusset with angry, old school punk, with songs
and lyrics that are, as the band themselves say, 'about being
young and unstoppable'. Think The Bronx

spitting buckets at early Deftones and you're getting
close.
'Stunning
totally essential punk' - Drowned In Sound.
'Blistering, belligerent and truly exciting' - Rock Sound.
'Enough flowing testosterone and storming riffs to make
even the politest of people raise their middle fingers to
the world' - Digital Lard.

'Think 4-to-the-floor-unhappy hardcore. Think an
experimental mash-up of electro, emo, indie and rock. Think
a love for melody and harmony. Think an ambition to mix the
lot.'
That's how this Scottish five-piece describe themselves anyway.
Signed to Lizard King, the boys have recently finished touring
with We Are Scientists and are now set to rock T in the Park
and the legendary Download Festival at Donnington.
|
|
They stir in samplers, guitars, drum loops and emotive
vocals to make a brand of music that they simply call, 'emotronica'.
And new single Sex Lines are Expensive Comedy should be
hitting the radio around the same time you see them live
in the Boro. You'll love it.

tunes crazy cartwheeling monster of a band' - Drowned in

Label-mates with Bullet for my Valentine and the
all-conquering Lost Prophets, Miss Conduct are a full-on,
girl-fronted rock brat attack!
Think Funeral for a Friend with added pop. Or Paramore with
more grit and less ginger. Frontwoman Kim Waterstone is a
high-kicking, pouting, female Axl Rose...and a native Teessider
to boot.
|
|
Girls want
to be her, and boys want to be with her - we're talking genuine
star in the making.
'Bright young things Miss Conduct sound like Paramore would
if young Hayley had spent her tender years getting up to no
good in a dead end mining town. Significantly more venomous
than their Tennessee cousins, Miss Conduct's music is succinct
but sharpened to dangerous points' - Kerrang!

'Big, ball-smacking tunes'! That's what Metal Hammer said,
and who are we to argue?
Six worryingly pale Glaswegians who take their inspiration
from FFAF and The Used, Flood of Red were recently named
as one of the Rock Sound Top Acts to Watch in 2007. So go
and watch them!
Mixing experimental and screamo elements, the lads

have also found their way onto Kerrang's New Breed compilation
alongside the likes of Panic! At The Disco and Paramore.
And new single Don't Sleep Swim is a thunderously addictive
rock blast.

By day, Malpractice frontman Adam Fenton is ground-
breaking drum'n'bass producer Adam F - turning out some right
rattling tunes for the likes of David Bowie, The Pet Shop
Boys and LL Cool J.
His band are a different proposition entirely.
|
|
Formed with former members of pop-punkers 'A' and experimental
new-wavers Killing Joke, Malpractice make heavy, electro-spiked
rock - the kind of noise Metallica might make if they ditched
the ugly one for a Moog and plugged the rest of the gear
into a small nuclear generator.

Lights! Action! have unfortunately had to pull out
due to personal reasons but thankfully, former Million Dead
frontman Frank Turner has agreed to play two sets for us!
He's still going to be playing in his original Acoustic Stage
slot but he'll also be bringing his critically acclaimed brand
of folk-punk to Middlesbrough Town Hall Crypt. This will be
Frank's first solo date in Middlesbrough but he's no stranger

digestible. KKKK" - Kerrang |
