Brand
new for 2009 is The Warm-Up - three action-packed days of music,
comedy, street entertainment and more as Middlesbrough Music Live
spills out into venues and outdoor sites across the town.
We've created the Warm-Up because we've literally run out of time
and space on the main Music Live Sunday. Our solution? To throw
open an invitation to pubs, clubs and venues across the town to
host some top-notch shows in the three days running up to the Main
Event on Sunday 7 June, and to complement this with a few bits and
pieces of our own.
|
|
And we've been delighted with the response - we've got Live at the
Apollo comedian Russell Kane at the Town Hall; an international
choir at mima; acoustic magic in the magnificent setting of the
Central Library's Reference Room; some cracking local band showcases
at the Princess Alice, Uncle Alberts and The Warehouse; plus the
launch of a super-cool new Under-18 band / club night at The Empire...
Need we go on?!
Thanks to the Council's Economic Regeneration Team for helping us
stage this programme.

UNCLE ALBERTS / 9pm / £FREE! / 18+
Middlesbrough's hippest platform for fresh new music presents a
free triple bill of Teesside indie rock'n'roll treats.
Inspired by classic acts such as The Doors, The Byrds and The Rolling
Stones, Darlington chaps The Felons had the NME singing their praises
recently: "With their huge melodies and a front man gifted
with the presence of a young Jim Morrison, Darlington boys The Felons
play ear splittingly loud rock n' roll, birthed in a pool of beer
soaked blues riffs." Nice.
Support from Boro's answer to LCD Soundsystem, Comets, and Billingham
indie-poppers One Night Stands.

SURVIVE
ATLANTICA + SAVE ARCADE + ROSA VALLE + VIASENDER + CLIMATE OF FEAR
THE WAREHOUSE / 4:30pm / £3 / Ages 14
- 17
Local pop-punk promoters Sinking Ship have pulled off another beauty
with this one - London quartet Survive Atlantica look set to follow
in the footsteps of the likes of You Me At Six and Kids In Glass
Houses as the UK's next alt heroes. We reckon they could well be
England's answer to Brand New; and bizarrely The News Of The World
agree! Support comes from four of Teesside's hottest new rock propositions.
Ooh la la.
