Brand new for 2009 is The Warm-Up - three action-packed days of music, comedy, street entertainment and more as Middlesbrough Music Live spills out into venues and outdoor sites across the town.

We've created the Warm-Up because we've literally run out of time and space on the main Music Live Sunday. Our solution? To throw open an invitation to pubs, clubs and venues across the town to host some top-notch shows in the three days running up to the Main Event on Sunday 7 June, and to complement this with a few bits and pieces of our own.

And we've been delighted with the response - we've got Live at the Apollo comedian Russell Kane at the Town Hall; an international choir at mima; acoustic magic in the magnificent setting of the Central Library's Reference Room; some cracking local band showcases at the Princess Alice, Uncle Alberts and The Warehouse; plus the launch of a super-cool new Under-18 band / club night at The Empire... Need we go on?!

Thanks to the Council's Economic Regeneration Team for helping us stage this programme.

Dancers & street performers take over the town.
Keep your eyes peeled and your ears open if you're shopping in Middlesbrough on Thursday, Friday or Saturday as sites across the town centre will be buzzing to the sounds of live music, courtesy of Middlesbrough Council & Middlesbrough Town Centre Management. Between 12noon & 2.00pm on Thursday and Friday you'll be able to catch some fantastic bands and performers at various spots around the town centre.

And then on Saturday, we'll be installing a stage in the pedestrianised zone near House of Fraser and Topman, where you'll be able to catch a succession of upbeat, family-friendly acts right through the afternoon.

Nice.
