FRANK
TURNER
9.10pm - 10.00pm
myspace.com/frankturner
With almost 2 million
listens on myspace, appearances at all the best festivals, a session
in Jo Whiley's Radio 1 Live Lounge and songs featured everywhere
from Hollyoaks to Sky Movies, Frank Turner's CV is starting to
look pretty impressive! Oh, there's also the small matter of a
full American tour with The Offspring coming soon too. Smashing.
If you've not heard Frank before - you're missing a treat. He's
been a favourite of ours for some time now and as the missing
link between Billy Bragg and Black Flag, we couldn't ask for a
more engaging and entertaining act to headline our Sumo Rock stage.
"One of the best singer songwriters
of our generation." Mike Davies (Radio 1)

THE
GHOST OF A THOUSAND
8.10pm - 8.50pm
myspace.com/theghostofathousand
Signed to legendary American punk
label Epitaph (Bad Religion, Pennywise, Converge etc), Brighton's
The Ghost Of A Thousand have rapidly become one of the UK's most
valuable and unique musical assets courtesy of their unhinged, uncompromising
and utterly invigorating brand of Refused-esque ROCK music.
Recent off stage highlights for the band include
collecting a Kerrang! Award nomination and a place in Q Magazine's
Top Five metal bands and then on stage, they've toured with the
likes of Gallows, Cancer Bats and Alexisonfire to name but a few.
Ideal.
"Audacious rock 'n' roll riffage
offering further proof that we're looking at a British band capable
of mixing it with the likes of The Bronx and F****d Up. KKKKK"
Kerrang!

FUTURE OF THE LEFT
7.10pm -
7.50pm
myspace.com/futureoftheleft
Andrew "Falco"
Falkous and Jack William Egglestone made up two thirds of cult
Welsh rockers Mclusky and Kelson Louis Tregurtha Mathias was in
fellow Welsh lunatics Jarcrew... got that? Everybody loves rock
family trees. Anyway, Future Of The Left pick up where their aforementioned
previous outfits left off and create a savage and visceral rock
explosion, perhaps akin to a wonderful Welsh amalgamation of Les
Savy Fav and Shellac. There are no false statements in their paradiddles.
"Cuts a bloody swathe through your
cranium, leaving you reeling and gasping for more. The battle
cries have been practiced, the troops are focussed and playtime
is well and truly over. Here's to the future. 9/10" Drowned

DINOSAUR
PILE UP
6.10pm - 6.50pm
myspace.com/dinosaurpileup
Hotly tipped by everybody from Kerrang to NME to Radio 1, fiery
Leeds trio Dinosaur Pile Up take their cues from the first wave
of Seattle grunge but throw in bucket loads of energy and Weezer-esque
melodies to create a hugely impressive indie-rock racket. Just as
likely to please fans of Queens Of The Stone Age, My Bloody Valentine
and Nirvana as fans of The Cribs, Biffy Clyro and The Young Knives,
Dinosaur Pileup look set to become one of the stars of this Summer's
festival season.
"This three-piece already have enough
good songs that should you catch them in concert, chances are
you'll be humming one of them on the way home." Kerrang!

TWIN
ATLANTIC
5.15pm - 5.50pm
myspace.com/twinatlantic
One of the standout acts at this years SXSW in Texas, Glaswegian
rockers Twin Atlantic have been fortunate enough to share stages
with such luminaries as Smashing Pumpkins, Funeral For A Friend,
Biffy Clyro, Thrice, Finch, Lost Prophets and Say Anything to name
but a few! Quite a list that, isn't it? Musically, there's similarities
to the aforementioned Biffy Clyro as well as Jimmy Eat World and
the rawer, punky side of fellow Scots Idlewild, but Twin Atlantic
are no copy cats
Their own incendiary brand of rock music
has seen them ink a deal with Red Bull Records, a brand new label
set up by them folks who claim to give you wings.
"Twin Atlantic are rather super"
Kerrang!

HEAVENS BASEMENT
4.20pm -
4.55pm
myspace.com/heavensbasementofficial
Do you like ROCK music?! Of course you do. When we say rock music,
we mean the good stuff - Motley Crue, Guns 'n' Roses, Led Zeppelin,
Black Sabbath et al
If that's your bag, you're going to
LOVE Heavens Basement. Downright dirty, sleazy and full of the
kind of riffs that could - and should - see them being regarded
just as highly as the list of legends that inspired them.
"A sound that grabs you by the throat
and will leave your senses rocked for days! A sound simply titled
Heavens Basement. Believe all you have heard, read and seen about
this band. These rockers from the UK are BADD ASS!" All Access
Magazine (Los Angeles, CA)

PULLED APART BY HORSES
3.25pm -
4.00pm
myspace.com/pulledapartbyhorses
Pulled Apart By Horses are a thoroughly intriguing live proposition.
Yeah, they've been getting more than their fair share of critical
acclaim from the likes of NME and Artrocker, but rock mags like
Metal Hammer and Kerrang! have also been singing their praises
which is no surprise 'cause these lads sure know how to rock!
Riffs, riffs and more riffs. Just how we like it! Last seen in
Boro on tour with Rolo Tomassi, PABH are one of the most exciting,
enthralling and entertaining live bands we've seen in a long time!
"This Leeds four-piece are causing
quite a stir with their manic art-punk convulsion, discover why
Pulled Apart by Horses are the name on everyone's lips."

YOUR DEMISE
2.30pm -
3.05pm
myspace.com/yourdemise
St. Albans metal-core crew Your Demise have toured with everybody
from Biohazard to Enter Shikari to Architects to Comeback Kid
and along the way, they've managed to have their equipment stolen,
have multiple van crashes (including the time when the side door
of their tour van literally fell off in the fast lane of the M1!)
and get arrested more times than they'd care to remember. Little
wonder then that they write such angry music!
"This is thugly, brutal and misanthropic
UK hardcore - and live it's simply exhilarating. In the crowded
and claustrophobic world of modern hardcore, you have to mean
it. Your Demise mean it, and then some." Metal Hammer

TURBOWOLF
1.35pm -
2.10pm
myspace.com/turbowolfband
It's hard to ignore a band with a name like Turbowolf isn't it?
Well, a bit like a popular wood staining product - it does exactly
what it says on the tin. We won't even begin to try and describe
their sound to you, we'll leave that to the experts:
"Like Gallows if they'd been brought up
in a circus. Get involved with the Wolf" Metal Hammer
"One of my top tips for 2009. They're
gonna be massive!" Rob Da Bank
"The evil twin of The White Stripes or
the disobedient child of The Stooges
Impossible to ignore."
M1st
"None of this pussy footing around
electric beats, Turbowolf are electro-RAWK. Riotous rock-tronic
fun." NME

SAVING AIMEE
12.45pm -
1.20pm
myspace.com/savingaimee
Hertfordshire six piece Saving Aimee have toured with everybody
from Enter Shikari to Mcfly, which is quite apt given that they
sound like a mixture of the two! Their catchy, synth-driven, sing-a-long
pop-punk has seen them become regulars on The Box, Scuzz and Kerrang
TV! and Zane Lowe is a big fan. If you like You Me At Six, Elliott
Minor and Kids In Glass Houses, you'll be in for a treat.
"Saving Aimee may, in the likes
of 'High Fives All Round', be more 'pop' than anyone else on the
bill, but they're heavy enough to contribute to this being the
Shockwaves NME Awards Show least likely to be attended by the
faint of heart." NME

SUCH GREAT HEIGHTS
12noon- 12.30pm
myspace.com/suchgreatheightsrock
Female-fronted five piece Such Great Heights have been making
quite a name for themselves over the past 12 months with their
Paramore meets New Found Glory emo-pop-punk anthems. Debut single
"Would I Still Have Friends If I Believed I Was A Wizard?"
and explosive support slots alongside the likes of Anti-Flag,
Tellison and Fighting With Wire have helped establish SGH as one
of the North East's most exciting new bands.
"Who'd have thought Middlesbrough
could be such a treasure trove of delights? The fantastic Such
Great Heights are a youthful troupe of boys fronted by enigmatic
non-boy Evelyn! Power-pop to the core, their sprawling brand of
alt-indie is loaded with punchy vocals and killer hooks."
