BLACK
BOX REVELATION
7.00pm
myspace.com/theblackboxrevelation
We love these Belgians so much that we're flying them over for two
exclusive performances! Just for you. Live on stage, The Black Box
Revelation are indeed a revelation. Combining the best ingredients
of idols like Led Zeppelin, The Datsuns, The Rolling Stones, Black
Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Stooges, they've been making quite
a name for themselves in their native country thanks to unbelievable
performances at festivals like Pukkelpop and Dour. Their debut-album
"Set Your Head On Fire" was produced by Triggerfinger
drummer Mario Goossens, mixed in LA by Greg Gordon (Wolfmother,
Jet, Soulwax) and mastered in NYC by Fred Kevorkian (Iggy Pop, U2,
White Stripes). Not bad names to drop, eh?

GOLD
TEETH
5.50pm
myspace.com/goldteeth
"The Music Sounds Better With Huw", Gold Teeth have been
getting touted by all and sundry as the UK's answer to Vampire Weekend
but here at Middlesbrough Music Live HQ, we think there's a bit
more to it than that! There's hints of electronica, a cheeky 80s
Human League-esque vibe in places and maybe even a little tinge
of Girls and Boys era Blur. Recent single Everybody was an absolute
treat for your ears - log on to myspace, learn the words and prepare
to sing-a-long.
"Calypso-Afro-electropop like Vampire
Weekend in Mario World... wonderful" NME

BILLY
THE KID (acoustic)
5.20pm
myspace.com/musicbillythekid
An exclusive solo set from Billy The Kid, aka Matty Chipchase formerly
of much missed local legends The Hayze and The Romance and now frontman
for Teesside's hottest prospect Young Rebel Set. With the same management
as Oasis and gigs with everybody from The Pigeon Detectives to Cage
The Elephant under his belt, Billy The Kid's country tinged folky
acoustica is an absolute treat which finds itself sitting somewhere
between Pete Doherty and The Levellers! What a peculiar, but satisfying
place to sit eh?!

THE
BRUTE CHORUS
4.40pm
myspace.com/thebrutechorus
Here at Middlesbrough
Music Live HQ, we see a lot of live bands. And do you know what?
London's The Brute Chorus are hands down the best - and coolest
- live act we've seen so far in 2009. A 9/10 "Single Of The
Week" NME accolade suggests that they're just as good on
record as they are live and with all the usual suspects at Radio
1 and XFM backing the band, if there's any justice in the world,
they'll be household names in no time.
"Every song builds with an irresistible
force but remains distinct - a rare treat when you're watching
a new band. That's something we suggest you do as soon as possible
- this lot are bloody marvellous." New Noise

ME MY HEAD
3.30pm
myspace.com/memyhead
Named after a Gary Numan song, Me My Head are perhaps best known
for *that* Lady Ga Ga cover and video (one of NME's top five videos!)
but via their own tunes, they create a sound hungry for big stages,
echoing elements of new wave romantics, lonely space travellers,
love lost, ice cold pop and the thunder of a house falling down.
They recently toured with Glaswegian mentalists Danananaykroyd
and have also shared stages with Heartbreak (on the Levis Ones
To Watch Tour), Jeffree Starr and Twin Atlantic.
"Me My Head fuse brooding post-punk doom
with a Cure-esque pop foundation that's commercially catchy and
gothically curious." The Fly

THE SPACE AGENCY
2.25pm
myspace.com/thespaceagency
Formed in 2002 by ex-Vibrasonic member Simon Jones from England,
Hiromi Fukuzawa from Japan and Andrew Bowler from Wales, The Space
Agency have released three albums of unique and almost extra-terrestrial
instrumental sounds.
Sounding like Dick Dale and The Deltones
if they'd be abducted by the mysterons and brought back down to
earth in Hawaii, this Brighton and Hove based trio recently toured
Portugal, but their live appearances here in the UK are becoming
rarer and rarer so make sure you don't miss 'em!

KOVAK
1.20pm
myspace.com/kovakuk
Kovak live in Brighton, love people who dance, spill their pints,
snog strangers, love their music and have a kebab on the way home!
Chances are, then, that they're gonna love playing in Boro - a
place where people get a kebab (or a parmo) on the way to the
gig AND on the way home. Perfect. They've just returned from playing
with The Go Team in Switzerland where their sleazy electro tinged
dance-rock went down a storm. Their debut album is out now and
we love it! Hopefully they'll be just as good live
"Kovak have actually done a 'Hit Hit Hit'
album... It's fun, it's sassy: There's nothing hotter. Get jiggy
with it." Artrocker
