Originally
from Downpatrick in Northern Ireland but now based in
New York City, Ash are a band genetically engineered
for headlining festivals
as they proved with stunning
performances topping the bill at last year's NME/Radio
1 Stage at Leeds & Reading. With five hit albums
under their belts - including two Number 1s - and a
back catalogue of landmark singles including Burn Baby
Burn, Shining Light, A Life Less Ordinary and Girl From
Mars, it's no surprise that Q Magazine put Ash at Number
2 in their '50 Bands To See Live Before You Die' feature.
So, if you've never seen them before, and you're not
dead, you know what to do

At
last year's Music Live, some cheeky little so-and-sos
from Helmsley pretty much stole the show with
a jaw- dropping set on the Ten Feet Tall stage.
A year on, with a Top 10 album and a couple of
major hit singles to their name, we're pleased
as punch to have them back. Signed to Vertigo
Records (Razorlight, The Killers, The Rapture)
and fresh from the sold-out MTV2 Spanking New
Music Tour, The Guardian reckon that One Night
Only's summery indie-pop songs 'have the addictive
quality of early Supergrass'. Here at MML HQ,
we think One Night Only mix the best of The Kooks'
youthful exuberance with The Killers' knack for
writing anthemic pop. Quite a combo.

It's
been a quiet couple of years for Delays, but with their
third full-length album Everything's the Rush released
in May on Polydor/Fiction and summer slots at the Isle
of Wight Festival, Oxegen, T In The Park and 02 Wireless
already in the bag, 2008 is looking pretty crazy for
these Southampton chaps. Mixing up the sounds of The
Stone Roses, The Smiths, The La's and The Beatles, Delays
produce quintessentially British indie full of heart-wrenching
harmonies and jaunty rhythms. Everything's the Rush
should see them cement their position as one of the
classiest and most distinctive guitar bands around today.
Believe.

Signed
to the cooler-than-cool Wall Of Sound label (Soulwax,
Mogwai, Royksopp), Infadels are all set to unleash
their splendid new album Universe In Reverse,
which includes one of the finest songs of the
year so far - Make Mistakes. They've played over
300 gigs in the last two years, including tours
with Franz Ferdinand, the Chemical Brothers and
Arcade Fire, and have now honed their sound to
a very sharp point. And Universe in Reverse is
an impeccable record - 'bursting with energy,
growling guitar melodies and hooks in abundance.
It is, in short - the definitive Infadels record'
- Glasswerk. |

Since
bursting onto the scene last Autumn, young Mr McManus
has toured with Scouting For Girls and Amy MacDonald
while being tipped for superstardom by everybody from
The Times to the News of The World to Dermot O'Leary
to Music Week. And these people know what's what.
Oh, and he also found the time to sign a major record
deal with Polydor and (wait for it) to perform live
on GMTV. A bona fide star in waiting - guaranteed.
'A balladeer in the
mould of Andrew Gold, Billy Joel and Dame Elton. An
absence of any sense of hard-eyed acumen triumphing
over wide-eyed enthusiasm means his songs convince
as authentic statements, rather than opportunistic
knock-offs. A pleasure - guilt doesn't come into it.'

They're
back! After a two year absence, these local
legends are going to be gracing the Music Live
Main Stage once again
this time for an
All-star Jam featuring DJs, Brass and more than
a hint of samba. A Teesside institution, their
madcap fiddle antics have seen them appear everywhere
from Beijing (where they played to over 100,000
people!) to Boro, even supporting Sir Bob Geldof
along the way. Gordon Bennett!! |

Hotly-tipped
Londoner who recently inked a deal with Atlantic Records
and has already been playlisted on Radio 1. He also
popped up on Later with Jools Holland, where the boogie-woogie
king himself described Natty as 'musically eclectic,
lyrically catchy, and set to soundtrack the sizzling
summer of 2008!' High praise indeed.
Already confirmed for the Dot To Dot Festival, Glastonbury
and Bestival, as well as embarking on a seemingly
never-ending tour, Natty looks set to justify his
red-hot status by sizzling to success by the end of
the summer. Watch him go! .

Keen
on the Kooks? Well into the Wombats? Meet your
new favourite band! Since posting the demo of
pop-hit-in-waiting Letting Go on Myspace last
year, it's gone proper nuts for this lot - tours
with the likes of Joe Lean and the Jing Jang
Jong, plays on Radio 1 and Xfm, rave write ups
in the NME, tips for success from all and sundry
and an upcoming single release on Moshi Moshi
Records. Team Waterpolo write great great pop
songs. What more do you need to know?

Straight
from tours with Scouting For Girls and Hello Goodbye,
supercharged-pop quartet Go: Audio have been all over
Radio 1, Kerrang, MTV and MTV2 for the past few months,
with tracks like Woodchuck and Made up Stories finding
favour left right and centre.
The pop-punk thing might get a bit of a bad press these
days, but there's much more to these boys than latest
inheritors of the poisoned chalice that is 'the new
Busted' tag.
Kerrang are already backing the band, and there's definitely
a bit more of a rock element in there. More rock than
Busted, I hear you cry!? Yeah! You better believe it.
Throw a bit of The Killers and Something Corporate into
the mix and you're probably just about there |

Influences
from The Beastie Boys to Fatboy Slim. Plus a beat-boxer,
two DJs, some MCs, a drummer, a bassist, and a
hyperactive vocalist
it's going to be quite
a party when this lot take to the stage.
Recently returned from a sold-out tour with Dan
Le Sac and Scroobius Pip and with Radio 1 airplay
aplenty for latest single Employee of the Month,
The Anomalies recently prompted The Sun to say
that these 'have the rhymes and charisma to go
far'.
This set will be fresh-as-you-like. Personally,
we can't wait!
